Special Raffles
This raffle raised $1,750 for ClearWater's Land Conservation Program. Famed local landscape artist, Jennifer Kane, created a 30” x 40” commemorative original oil painting of Tussey View Farm on Tussey Mountain, for ClearWater Conservancy to raffle in support of future Land Conservation Program projects. Tussey View Farm contains the headwater springs that feed the main stem of Spring Creek, east of Boalsburg. In November, ClearWater closed on a conservation easement on this property and a portion of the land was transferred to the PA Bureau of Forestry and added to Rothrock State Forest. Many thanks to Fred Strouse for his generous donation of land and a conservation easement to protect this special place. This is the third painting in a commemorative series of works by Jennifer Kane based on ClearWater’s conserved lands. The painting process included sketching, painting and photographing the subject on location, then creating a larger, 30”x40” piece in the studio over the next several months. The finished painting is wired and has painted edges, ready to display. View Jennifer’s work at www.jenniferkaneart.com.Jennifer Kane is a professional landscape and portrait artist and painting instructor. She grew up in the scenic Shawnee National Forest area of southern Illinois. Her education includes a BFA in Painting and an MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign. Her work is collected internationally, and has appeared in many regional juried shows and exhibits, including the Art of the State show in Harrisburg and the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts. Jennifer's work is on permanent display at the corporate headquarters of the Knight Foundation in Miami, FL. Also, she was chosen as the first place artist in oil painting for the book, "Best of Artists: Pennsylvania". Donation valued at $3,000.
