About the Event

Join Jordan and Bethany Temchack, the founders of local independent record label, Holy Crick Records, LLC, and the co-creators of the folk-rock, fantasy opera, Rumble & Scream: Post-Industrial Sounds in Pennsylkrainia, for a hike in the forest featuring live music and poetry reading where they collected many of their favorite songs and stories!

Acclaimed author, poet, and teacher, Todd Davis will be coming along as the first featured guest. Davis is the author of eight full-length collections of poetry, as well as many other academic and creative essays. He recently retired from teaching creative writing, American literature, and environmental studies at Pennsylvania State University’s Altoona Campus.

We will be exploring the Wopsononock Natural Area in Moshannon State Forest. There are four points of interest along the estimated 1.5 mile trail loop where we will pause for our host-band, Rumble & Scream, to share a song and story or for Todd Davis to offer a poem and teach us something about our surroundings. The walks between each location will be reserved for chatting and reflection.

DIRECTIONS: We’ll begin and end our hike at the pavilion overlooking the pond, so feel free to bring a snack to enjoy.

Parking: The trailhead is best accessed from the parking area at Williams Camp Road (40.740393, -78.396248) This is off of Route 253/Cambria St. and has a sign that says William Camp Road. Please carpool if you can, as the parking area is small. The walk from the parking lot to the pavilion is about 100 yards, which is overlooking the pond south of the parking lot.

There is overflow parking at Muddy Run parking area, about ½ mile away. Marked by a sign called Little Muddy Run.

NOTE: PennDot has closed Route 453 between Tyrone and the top of the mountain for shoulder repairs, unfortunately this is the way anyone coming from State College direction would likely go. Route 453 Resurfacing and Stabilization Tyrone Boro and Snyder Twp Blair Co | Department of Transportation | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

If traveling from State College area, you'd either route through Tipton mountain, or come through Philipsburg and enter from the other side.
