Located within Rothrock State Forest, Lower Trail meets Shingletown  Gap trail at Laurel Run Road. The Shingletown Gap area is a popular  hiking destination in summer due to the cooling rush of Roaring Run  descending from the mountain, stone walls along the creekside, and  tunnels of rhodedendron. This approximately 5 mile loop includes varying  terrain including rocky sections that can be slick when wet. Abundant  wildlife is present at any time of year.
Parking Information: Approaching the parking area  and trailhead on Laurel Run Road, park near the trail gate or anywhere  there is space along the side of Laurel Run Road.
Difficulty: Difficult
Hike Distance (miles): 5.0
What To Expect: Rothrock State Forest single-track trail complete with rocks, roots, occasional mud, and some elevetion change.
How To Prepare: Sturdy shoes and a water bottle are recommended. Sunscreen and insect protection recommended for all outings.
